Jewelry Size Guide
The right fit makes a favorite piece feel effortless. Use this guide to explore common jewelry measurements and find a comfortable starting point for your next piece.
Measurements below are approximate, not product-specific. Designs and sizing can vary by brand. Always check the measurements, available sizes and adjustability listed on the individual product page before ordering.
Ring size chart
This chart uses US ring sizes. Inside diameter measures straight across the inside of a ring; inside circumference measures the distance around its interior.
| US ring size | Inside diameter (mm) | Inside circumference (mm) |
|---|---|---|
| 4 | 14.9 | 46.8 |
| 4.5 | 15.3 | 48.0 |
| 5 | 15.7 | 49.3 |
| 5.5 | 16.1 | 50.6 |
| 6 | 16.5 | 51.9 |
| 6.5 | 16.9 | 53.1 |
| 7 | 17.3 | 54.4 |
| 7.5 | 17.7 | 55.7 |
| 8 | 18.1 | 57.0 |
| 8.5 | 18.5 | 58.3 |
| 9 | 18.9 | 59.5 |
| 9.5 | 19.4 | 60.8 |
| 10 | 19.8 | 62.1 |
| 10.5 | 20.2 | 63.4 |
| 11 | 20.6 | 64.6 |
| 11.5 | 21.0 | 65.9 |
| 12 | 21.4 | 67.2 |
How to measure for a ring
For the most reliable fit, use a ring sizer or have your finger measured by a jeweler. At home, measure the inside diameter of a ring that fits the intended finger, excluding the metal edges, and compare it with the chart.
You can also wrap a narrow strip of paper around your finger, mark where it meets, and measure the length in millimeters. Keep it snug without compressing the skin, and make sure the size can pass over your knuckle. Paper measurements are only an estimate.
Measure when your hands are comfortably warm, and repeat a few times. Fingers can change size throughout the day. Wider bands may feel tighter than narrow bands; if you are between sizes, confirm the fit with a ring sizer before ordering.
Necklace length chart
Where a necklace sits depends on your neck measurement, height, build and pendant size. These descriptions are general starting points.
| Length (inches) | Length (cm) | Typical placement |
|---|---|---|
| 14 | 35.6 | Close to the neck; choker-style fit |
| 16 | 40.6 | Near the base of the neck |
| 18 | 45.7 | Near the collarbone |
| 20 | 50.8 | Below the collarbone |
| 22 | 55.9 | Upper chest |
| 24 | 61.0 | Chest-length styling |
| 30 | 76.2 | Long layering length |
How to choose a necklace length
Drape a soft measuring tape or a piece of string around your neck and position it where you want the necklace to sit. Measure that length and compare it with the product details. Allow comfortable breathing room for close-fitting styles. Check whether a listed length includes an extender and whether the pendant adds extra drop.
Bracelet sizing
Measure around your wrist just below the wrist bone with a flexible tape. For flexible chain or beaded bracelets, use the allowances below as a starting point. Chunky beads and thicker designs may need more room.
| Preferred fit | Add to your wrist measurement |
|---|---|
| Close fit | Approximately 0.25–0.5 in (0.6–1.3 cm) |
| Comfortable fit | Approximately 0.5–0.75 in (1.3–1.9 cm) |
| Relaxed fit | Approximately 0.75–1 in (1.9–2.5 cm) |
For example, a 6-inch wrist may suit a flexible bracelet around 6.5–6.75 inches long for a comfortable fit. Actual fit depends on the design and how the brand measures its bracelets.
Bangles and cuffs
For a rigid, closed bangle, wrist size alone is not enough: it must also pass over your hand. Bring your fingers together, tuck your thumb toward your palm, and measure around the widest part of your hand. Compare this with the bangle’s inside circumference, or measure the inside diameter of a bangle you already wear comfortably.
For cuffs and hinged bangles, check the listed inner dimensions, opening and product-specific guidance. Do not bend or resize a piece unless the product details explicitly say it is adjustable.
Anklet sizing
Measure around your ankle where you want the anklet to sit. Add approximately 0.5–1 inch (1.3–2.5 cm) for movement, depending on your preferred fit and the design. Check the product’s total length and extender range before ordering.
Earring measurements
Earrings do not use a universal clothing-style size. Check hoop diameter, drop length and stud dimensions on the product page. A hoop’s inside diameter describes its opening; outside diameter includes the metal. If the listing does not specify which measurement is used, ask before ordering. For pierced jewelry, check any listed post thickness or gauge separately.
Quick measuring tips
- Use a flexible measuring tape and measure twice.
- To convert inches to centimeters, multiply by 2.54.
- Compare with a similar piece you already enjoy wearing.
- For gifts, use the recipient’s known measurements rather than guessing.
- Product-specific measurements take priority over this general guide.
